Who studies here?
Men and women of all ages and backgrounds study at HTC. Ages range from school-leavers to retired people. Some of HTC’s students are training for pastoral ministry – often these are mature students who are retraining following experiencing a call to ministry. Students train at HTC for a wide range of other Christian work too: youth work, chaplaincy, missionary work, etc. Many students (particularly Access students) study for interest only. Occasionally we also have students who study theology ‘just as an academic subject’.
HTC is a recognised provider of training and education for the Associated Presbyterian Churches, Church of Scotland and United Free Church of Scotland. Students from a wide variety of other denominations train at HTC too. HTC is non-denominational. Typically the staff and students on campus at any given time will represent well over a dozen denominations!
